NEW YORK, June 6, 2012 - The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, announced today that on October 16, 2012, the Institute will present The Leader of the Future Award to three distinctive recipients: Commissioner Charles H. The Leader of the Future Award annually honors extraordinary leaders from the public, private and social sector, respectively, who have distinguished themselves as ethical leaders of integrity and character while serving the common good.

According to Frances Hesselbein, President and CEO of?the Hesselbein Institute, “We are enthusiastic and privileged to have the opportunity to honor these humble and effective leaders who lead from the heart, have a clear mission and vision for the future, and have a deep respect for all people.”

At the forefront of developing innovative policing strategies and leading organizational change, Charles H. Ramsey is an internationally-recognized practitioner and educator, appointed Philadelphia Police Department on January 7, 2008, by Mayor Michael A. Nutter. A man of honor, service and integrity, Commissioner Ramsey brings over forty years of knowledge and experience in advancing the law enforcement profession of three major city police departments: Chicago, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia.

Michael and Kass Lazerow are self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneurs” who have co-founded four successful internet-based media companies. At the heart of each company is a passion for creating, managing and growing organizations from the ground up, who dedicate time and energy to social causes. The Lazerows founded Buddy Media, Inc., a New York-based company whose Facebook management system, the Buddy Media Platform, is used by eight out of the top ten global advertisers. Michael currently serves as Chairman and CEO and Kass as Co-Founder and COO. On June 4, the Lazerows announced Buddy Media would be sold to Salesforce.com.

General Peter W. Chiarelli (U.S. Army, Ret.) is currently the Chief Executive Officer of One Mind for Research—an independent, non-profit organization bringing together health care providers, researchers, academics and the health care industry—on a global scale—to cure all brain disorders. A leading voice on vital issues related to traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress, General Chiarelli recently joined ABC News as a consultant. Prior to One Mind, General Chiarelli served as the 32nd Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army (August 2008 – January 2012). He is a tireless advocate for eliminating the stigma associated with Service Members and Veterans, and creating treatment opportunities for the invisible wounds of war.

Previous Leader of the Future Award honorees include Alan Mulally, President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company; Andrea Jung, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Avon Products, Inc.; A.G. Lafley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Procter and Gamble Company; the Honorable Eric K. Shinseki, U.S. Army (Ret.), Secretary for Veterans Affairs; executive coach Marshall Goldsmith and Patricia Shinseki, Advisory Board Member to the White House Initiative, Joining Forces.

The Institute will also honor five NEXT Leaders of the Future—leaders age 30 and under—who will be invited to New York City to attend the award dinner and will be recognized for their community contributions. View Special Giving Opportunity
