1. What is the mission of the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute?

The mission of the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute is to strengthen and inspire the leadership of the social sector and their partners in business and government. 

2. What does the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute do?

The Institute provides online and in-person resources and services that enhance the leadership capabilities of the social sector leaders and their partners in business and government. We currently have more than 27 books in 30 languages around the world, as well as the award-winning journal, Leader to Leader.

The Institute serves leaders of the social sector and their partners in business and government.

4. What is the relationship between the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute and the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management?

The Institute was founded in 1990 as the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management. In January 2012, the Institute, (known from 2003 as Leader to Leader) celebrated the great contribution of Frances Hesselbein, our founding and current president and CEO and renamed the organization to honor Mrs. Hesselbein's ongoing legacy. 

5. What is the Institute's present relationship with the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management and the Drucker Archives?

The Institute is a strong supporter of both organizations.

6. What is the Institute's relationship with Peter Drucker and other thought leaders listed in the website?

The Institute does not represent the thought leaders in any official capacity. The thought leaders listed on our website are those who have generously contributed their time by writing for our publications and/or speaking at our conferences.

7. How do I invite one of the thought leaders listed on your website to speak at an event?

The Institute does not arrange speaking engagements, nor does it correspond on behalf of the thought leaders. Please contact the thought leaders directly or speak to the speakers bureaus representing the thought leaders.

8. How can I support the Institute?

The Institute relies upon financial support from the general public and multi-year Partners to supplement project-specific funding and royalties earned on publications. We welcome financial contributions as well as in-kind donations and the time of volunteers. Please contact us if you are interested in supporting the Institute or to find out more about partnership and collaborations. To make an online contribution, please use the Online Donation Form.

9. Does the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute issue grants to other nonprofits?

No, the Institute is not a grant-making organization.

About the Institute's programs

1. What is the Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation and how do I apply?

The Award is given each November to three non-profit organizations in recognition of an innovative, existing program that has made a difference in the lives of the people it serves. The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management administers the Award. Prior to 2003, the Award had been administered by the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, which continues to publicize the Award. By becoming a member of the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, you will receive a one-year subscription to the journal. Each year that you renew your membership, your journal subscription will be renewed. The journal is a $200 value, which you, as a member, will receive in addition to all membership benefits. From every issue of the journal, dating all the way back to the premier issue, you will find several articles and the Frances Hesselbein column available online, free of charge to the general public.These articles can be view at the Journal page.
