Drucker Foundation Announces 2001-2002 Frances Hesselbein Community Innovation Fellows

NEW YORK, July 23, 2001 -- The Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management has selected five social sector leaders to participate in the 2001-2002 Frances Hesselbein Community Innovation Fellows Program:

• Cathey Brown, Executive Director, Rainbow Days, Dallas, TX.
• Ashfaq Ishaq, Executive Director, International Child Art Foundation, Washington, DC.
• Nguyen Dinh Thang, Executive Director, Boat People SOS, Merrifield, VA.
• Sven Schumacher, Executive Director, Lutheran Child and Family Services, Indianapolis, IN

• Marilyn Sullivan, Executive Director, Bethlehem Haven of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA.

The Fellows were selected from a wide pool of applicants from across the social sector.

The Hesselbein Fellows Program was established in 1996 by the Drucker Foundation Board of Governors to celebrate the innovative accomplishments of the Foundation's founding President and current Chairman of the Board of Governors, Frances Hesselbein. The annual program recognizes the accomplishments and supports the professional development of social sector leaders who have a demonstrated record of leadership and entrepreneurial performance, and who are engaged in programs that demonstrate community innovation. During the year-long fellowship, Hesselbein Fellows are provided with intellectual resources, opportunities and guidance designed to encourage their vision of community innovation, enhance their leadership effectiveness, and support their pursuit of excellence in organizational and personal performance. The 2001-2002 Fellows will be officially introduced at the Drucker Foundation's annual leadership and management conference, Leading for Innovation and Organizing for Results being held November 12-13 in Los Angeles, CA. Scheduled conference speakers include: Peter F. Drucker; Frances Hesselbein; Robert Cialdini; Gladys Styles Johnston; Rosabeth Moss Kanter; and Raul Yzaguirre.

The Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management, founded in 1990, is named for and inspired by the acknowledged father of modern management.
