NEW YORK, September 4, 2012 - The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute announced today that Southwest Airlines has become the official airline sponsor of the Institute. The partnership includes roundtrip airfare for a number of Institute initiatives and travel needs associated with Institute programs.

According to Jackie Thompson, Community Affairs & Grassroots, “Both Southwest Airlines and the Hesselbein Institute develop youth leadership through involvement in the community and provide resources and opportunities for the United States Military,” said Thompson. “We are thrilled to partner with a social sector organization on a parallel mission.”

Whether it's volunteering at a neighborhood school, planting trees at a public park, or welcoming home a planeload of Military troops, giving back is an extension of the Southwest Airlines' (NYSE: LUV) mission and the carrier's history to do the right thing for its Employees, Customers, Communities, and the Planet.

“Southwest Airlines is rooted in innovation—challenging the status-quo, and serving their customers by listening to what their customers value. Our partnership with Southwest provides the opportunity for us to evolve and lead together while engaging, informing and enhancing the leadership journey of leaders at all levels,” said President and CEO Frances Hesselbein.
