NEW YORK, July 16, 2012 - The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit institution, is honored to announce today that the Leader to Leader Journal, a quarterly publication of the Hesselbein Institute and Jossey-Bass has received the 2012 Apex Award for Writing Excellence, for the third year in a row. There were 580 entires in this category.

The 24th Annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual, international competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. This year, more than 3,400 entries were evaluated. According to the APEX 2012 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness."

Previously, Leader to Leader received the APEX 2011 Awards of Excellence in Magazine and Journal Writing, and Regular Departments & Colums, APEX 2010 and 2009 Grand Awards of Excellence for Magazines & Journals, APEX 2007 Awards For Excellence in two subcategories: Regular Departments & Columns and Best Redesign, and APEX 2006 Awards of Excellence in three subcategories: New Magazines & Journals for its Special Supplement to Leader to Leader: Leadership Breakthroughs from West Point; Regular Departments & Columns written by editor-in-chief Frances Hesselbein; and Design & Layout for the overall composition of the Journal.
